I’m Tracy Mis, and I call the Robertsdale section of Hammond home, where I live with my husband, David Guiden, and our family’s top dog, Cash. My daughter, Paige, has set up her own bustling household in Chicago with her husband and their two dogs, but she still manages to keep life interesting—even from a distance.
I’ve been working with middle schoolers and loving every minute of it for close to 30 years. My passion for teaching ignited in the 5th grade when I started writing my own math textbook—yes, really. For my birthday, I got a chalkboard and a desk, which I promptly used to set up my own classroom and turn my siblings into my first students. And while other kids were playing outside, I was happily staying after school to design bulletin boards.
Though math was my first love, science eventually swept me off my feet. After diving into middle school science, i never looked back. Now, middle school PLTW is my happy place, where I combine my love for numbers and the wonders of science to inspire the next generation of STEM thinkers and doers.
I hold my degree and endorsements from Indiana University, but my true qualifications come from years of hands-on experience and a lifelong commitment to making learning an adventure.
