Introduction

Hello and welcome to the March Tech Report.  With Spring break right around the corner and both NWEA and ISTEP testing complete, I do not have much for you this month.

Registration for 2019-2020 School Year

Parents should have received an email with information on how to complete online registration their student(s) for the upcoming 2019-2020 school year. The registration forms are also available online in Spanish as well. Parents are able to pay fees for the upcoming school year online. Previous fees must be paid in person.

If you need tech support assistance in filling out the form, please contact Justin Dupras at [email protected] or 219-852-0500 ext. 105. If you have general registration questions or are not sure about some of the requirements, please contact our registrar, Leslie Otero, at [email protected] or 219-852-0500 ext. 137.

Support Ticket Reminder

A Reminder to everyone filling out support tickets: please indicate the correct ticket type! This helps me to organize tickets as well as to complete this report every month. It also helps when I have to refer back to a specific issue in future support cases. “Other” is only an acceptable option if none of the other ticket types work. For example, if you are having issues with your iPad freezing…the correct type would be “iPad Display/Hardware.”

Procedures Reminder

This is a friendly reminder to please follow all procedures. Last month we had a few instances where teachers filled out support tickets for insurance claims. Following procedures allows for a much more efficient process with everything. If you have a question about a procedure, you can find it on this site under “Policies & Procedures.”

Online Tech Purchases

Earlier this school year, I created an online form to allow parents and students to pay with a credit card for a number of technology items such as chargers, screen protectors, and iPad incident deductibles.  So far a number of parents and students have taken advantage of the online form.  It is much quicker than paying in person and allows parents to pay with a credit card (something we previously could not do).

If you need to purchase a new iPad charger, a replacement screen protector, or pay for an iPad incident deductible, you can now pay using your credit card by going to the HAST Technology Order Form Quick link located under Quick Links or by clicking here.

Orders completed will receive items within 24 hours.

Those preferring to pay cash or by check still need to make payments in Mr. Small’s office during business hours.

Support Ticket Breakdown

Support Tickets for February were pretty normal with a total of 48. PowerSchool tickets were down a bit. A majority of the wifi and apps tickets were related to the Lightspeed web filter outage we experienced in Mid February. That issue was resolved the next day. Nothing really sticks out with tickets.

Insurance Claims

Insurance claims were consistent with 3 in February. iPad Screen Protectors that are cracked still provide protection as long as they are not shattered. Shattered screen protectors or ones with huge portions missing should be replaced. Make sure to purchase replacements.

Lost iPads

Lost iPad numbers were also consistent last month totaling 7. Please remember to follow procedures for all lost iPads. null
