Good morning!
After conferring with administration from School City of Hammond this morning, HAST decided that we would follow suit with them and be open for school today.
We did not begin counting students for tardy arrival until 8:15 a.m., at which point it seemed most of our students had arrived for the day.
Any future decisions for the rest of this week will depend completely on weather and road conditions. We are asking our staff to be prepared with Virtual Learning lesson plans. Remember: we do NOT have snow days. We have eLearning/Virtual Learning Days when the weather prohibits us from coming to school.
A reminder: We use 3 methods to communicate when the school building is closed, 1) HAST email, 2) HAST website, 3) Emergency Closings website. All 3 happen almost simultaneously.
If you call the school, please be kind to our attendance clerk. She has been answering the phone since 7:15 this morning. She is very patient with callers. It would be great if callers were patient with her as well.
