The Art of Choices
Value Art; Live Substance Free
Students who participate in The Art of Choices, Value Art; Live Substance Free program will communicate about making life choices using art messages. They will show their school and community that life is made of choices. The class will examine substance abuse, communication and dealing with anger, just to name a few topics to be addressed. The life skills portion of the class was written by Gilbert J. Botvin, PHD. Each chapter will include an art component to reinforce the lesson learned. All artwork created during the class will culminate into three larger projects:
1. The creation of a book.
2. Window art for the school.
3. An artistic presentation
During the fifteen-week program students will be photographed and filmed as they participate. Students will perform skits, and find creative ways to talk about the dangers of making bad choices. Classmates and families will be invited to an artistic presentation, which will take place in March during the school day.
In order to participate in this program, parents must sign a photo release form so that their child may be photographed and filmed.
Please sign and return the registration and photo release form to the school office by October 5, 2012 or ASAP. Class size is limited, so SIGN UP EARLY!
