Over the weekend, members of the HAST Chess Team played at Hammond High. The High School team lead by Jermaine Mcneil with 4.5 out of 5 followed by Andrew Olejnik (3) and Anthony Foust(2) took Third place. Again Munster (9.5) on tiebreaker took 2nd with Morton winning 1st with 12 pts.The other HAST players who played were James Gerhardt, Cesar Tavarez, and Kyle Mason in the 8th and under division.
Jermaine was able to take 2nd place as an individual losing to Munster David Vogel on tiebrakers. Andrew Olejnik was able to place 5th.The next tournament is Jan 5, 2013 at Morton High. This one is Regional with top players moving on to State on Jan 29 in Indy.Forms for any player, who would like to be in Regional can be picked up in Mrs.Hansel room (7th Math).
