Can anyone apply to HAST?
Yes. However, all families must reside in the state of Indiana at the time of acceptance.
What grade should you complete an application?
Every year on October 1, HAST will start accepting applications for 5th grade students. There will be 2 separate applications available. Application 1 is only for 5th graders, Application 2 is for 6th through 11th grade.
Do you have to apply every year?
No. Once a student applies the application will carry over into the next grade every year until there’s an opening.
Is there a waiting list for every grade?
Yes
Do siblings automatically get accepted?
Yes. If there’s no space available, the sibling will be added at the top of the waiting list along with other siblings if any.
Does every grade hold a lottery?
No. The lottery is only for 5th graders entering 6 grade the following school year.
Are applications accepted all year round?
No. Only August through May
How do I know what grade to select when completing an application?
There’s a drop-down tab for 6 through 12 grade. The application should state what grade the student is enrolled in for the current school year.
Once a student is accepted, do you have to re-register every year?
Yes.
