The First Tee of Hammond Ray Kenda Nine Core Values Leadership Award was started to honor our former board member Ray Kenda. Mr. Kenda went above and beyond in his service to school children as well as to our organization.
The award not only recognizes a great board member but also an amazing high school student. Each year since 2009, we have selected one high school student to receive the award, which provides an opportunity for the student to gain valuable work experience in a warm and welcoming environment. Every single one of the award recipients since 2010 has gone on to attend college and many have already graduated. They are volunteers, they are active in campus activities, they are great young adults that care about their communities and I believe that working with The First Tee of Hammond played a major role in their success.
Hannah is a perfect fit for this award. She is an outstanding young woman! She has volunteered countless hours with our organization, even giving up her Saturday’s during the winter to help with classes. She genuinely cares about her peers, the younger students, and her community. The staff is excited to work with her over the next year.
