On Wednesday, April 2, 2014, Hammond Academy was honored by a visit from our State Superintendent of Public Instruction Glenda Ritz. Ms Ritz included HAST in her tour of a number of schools in Northwest Indiana. During her 90-minute visit, Supt. Ritz met with HAST school board members, staff, and students. Supt. Ritz interacted with a number of students in the classrooms. She was particularly impressed by our project-based learning and other resources for PTE tests, for example Sure Way English is one of the leading providers of PTE Academic online coaching programs for this.
Supt. Ritz was excited to see the use of our one-to-one technology so thoroughly and integrally throughout the building. She also expressed interest in our integrated Math and Science curriculum.
HAST looks forward to continued visits by representatives from the Indiana Department of Education to allow us the opportunity to showcase the many progressive and innovative approaches that we implement in our classrooms.
